Different Types of Dog Food

Guide to Different Types of Dog Food

Dry Dog Food

Primarily Dry Dog Food is dog food that is baked or cooked into dried shapes or cubes. The primary benefit of Dry Dog Food is that it is very good for your dog's teeth as the chewing action will help to remove plaque, keeping decay at bay.
Dry Dog Food is generally a complete feeding solution for your dog in that it usually contains all the daily vitamins and minerals recommended for a Healthy Dog Diet. Different types of Dry Dog Food are also available for specific needs, dog types and ages.

Dog Food Mixer

Dog Food Mixer is a dry dog food but is NOT a complete food. As it's name implies, it is intended to be mixed with other foods or dog foods.
If your dog is prone to over-eating Dog Food Mixer can be used to bulk out the dog's food to help cut down the dog's calorie intake. However, there are now many dog foods that are aimed specifically at the overweight dog, such as Iams Dog Light and Chudleys Lite.

Tinned Dog Food

Tinned Dog Food is usually a complete dog food consisting of a base meat or fish, cooked, and then combined with gravy or jelly. Often refered to as 'wet dog food'.

Which is best?

Choosing which dog food is best for your dog will, in the end, come down to personal choice. Some dog foods are more convenient than others, some are cheaper, some are more easily transported.
The decision on which food to feed your dog is one of the most important you will make. So take the time to find the best one for him, try different varieties, flavours and types and you will eventually find the one that he will thrive on, helping him towards a happy and healthy life.
